Easter/General Conference Weekend, April 3-4, 2021

Spring is beginning to pop up all over!  There are daffodils and tulips and blossoms on the trees!  It's a glorious time of year!

We had a wonderful, uplifting, family, and church-filled weekend.  It was Easter so there were Easter egg hunts and lots of candy but it was also and more importantly a celebration of our Savior, Jesus Christ.  We celebrated His life, His Atonement, His death and His resurrection!  Because of Him, we can live again after this life and we can have peace and hope during this life!  Because of Him, we can be together with our family and friends forever!  I love Him and am so grateful for Him and for how He has blessed my life and blesses my life every single day!

He reaches my reaching! He fills my soul with light and life! I know that my redeemer lives!

What a perfect time to have General Conference where our church leaders speak to the members of the church all over the world to give us counsel, hope, direction, and to share their love and the love of our Heavenly Father and His son, Jesus Christ.  Their talks were all so good and they focused a lot on how we need to love more.  We need to love our neighbors and all mankind to heal our world.  Our Savior's whole mission was to share love and teach love and we need to do the same every single day!

I also loved Elder Renlund's talk about how all the unfairness in our lives and world will be made right someday and our faith rewarded.

What I remember most about Elder Mutombo's talk was how he smiled the whole time.  He has a fabulous smile and he radiates love, kindness, and joy!

President Nelson gave a wonderful talk on faith and he announced 20 new temples!

President Eyring gave one of my favorite quotes of the conference, “Live carefully so you can leave easily.”  That was advice he and his wife were given early in their marriage but it applies today.  We need to live our lives so that the cares and the things of this world don’t keep us from being able to leave everything behind to serve the Lord and be able to go and do His will and His work,

Todd and Kimiko and their boys came down from Logan on Saturday afternoon.  We grilled hamburgers and hot dogs.  It was a gorgeous weekend and our first cookout of the year!  We went in the hot tub and then had a fire (also a first for the year) and roasted marshmallows for s'mores!  It was my kind of perfect evening--family, food, water, and fire!

Easter morning, the boys had a scavenger hunt with clues about Jesus and found their Easter baskets at the end. We had a yummy brunch with eggs, pancakes and bacon then watched conference.

Sunday afternoon, we had a family Easter dinner.  Everyone brought something so it was really easy to put together.  I bought a ham from Honey-Baked Ham and it was delicious but definitely not worth the money I spent on it!  Oh well, I can cross that off my list of things to try!  I also made a green jello, cottage cheese, pineapple and cool whip salad.  Eric brought the potatoes, Livi brought a green salad, Garrett and Louise brought asparagus, Hannah and Chase brought rolls, Joni brought deviled eggs and Kimiko made a delicious berry and angel food cake trifle.  She also made a cute jello bunny and her famous sugar cookies!  Becca is a college student and doesn't have a car so I didn't ask her to bring anything except her cute self.  Everything was wonderful and we all had such a nice time.

After much visiting around the table, we had an Easter egg hunt in the backyard.  The kids all loved it and the big kids let the little kids find a good share of the eggs!  It was such a beautiful Easter weekend and I'm so grateful for so many blessings--many of which are sitting at these tables!

Happy Easter!
