Colorado Visitors, Kim and Kim Hancock, July 2021

We get a lot of visitors here in Lehi, but most of our overnight guests are family.  We were thrilled when Kim called and said they were coming to Colorado and wanted to spend time with us and stay with us!  What a treat to get to spend a couple of days with some of our best friends.  We have been friends with them since before we got married.  They were some of our dearest friends all during our courtship, wedding and all the way to the present.

We have a lot of Colorado friends who have moved to Utah, so I invited some of them to come for dinner on their first evening here.  Everyone I invited was excited and able to come.  We had such a nice visit with Gerilyn Brown (who lives in Boise but was in town visiting children), Ron and Becky Wheelwright, Bruce and Carol Sessions, Peter and Rhonda Feuz, us and the Hancocks.

On Tuesday, July 20, we took the Hancock's to Ashton Gardens where we rented a golf cart and explored the beautiful gardens.  We loved seeing all of the Lego creations!  Afterwards, we had lunch in the Gardens restaurant, The Trellis.  It was yummy and we were seated at the best table on the patio that overlooked the gardens!

Probably the best part for them was the Light of the World Statue Garden!  It was very touching and a place where you can really feel the Savior near.

After lunch, we went home and had naps and then went to see the movie, Witnesses, at our Thanksgiving Point Megaplex Theaters.  It was about the three witnesses to the Book of Mormon plates and their hardships and struggles.  It was a very good movie and very touching.  We thought it portrayed them and the circumstances of the times really well.

After the movie, we went to Zupas for dinner.  Then at home, we sang hymns for a long time around the piano.  It was one of the things Kim requested for us to do with them.  We have many, many memories with them singing in our home, caroling, and in the ward choirs.

On Wednesday, we drove up the Alpine Loop from American Fork Canyon to Sundance.  We brought a picnic lunch which we ate in the canyon by the river.  We showed them around Sundance, came back via Provo Canyon where we stopped to see Bridal Veil Falls and then had ice cream at the BYU Creamery.

We grilled Halibut for dinner that Mike caught in Alaska!  It was delicious!  The Hancocks brought us some smoked sea salt that really makes things flavorful on the grill.  After dinner, we played a new game that they brought for us called Quixx.  It's a fun dice game that we caught onto quickly.  We also played Toast which they already new as Loser.  It's the fun card game that we learned from our granddaughter, Becca, and who we have taught to a lot of people since.  It was a great day and a great visit.  They had family members to meet with the next day so we said goodbye and hope to do this again!
