Tyler and his kids spent a couple of days in Breckinridge playing in the snow, and then came here for a couple of days. We enjoy our visitors so much and are so grateful we have a house that accommodates so many people. Such a blessing!
They arrived on Sunday and met us at Eric's where he surprised us all with Low Country Boil for dinner! It's always so delicious. I had read that it was National California Strawberry Day and and mentioned it to Eric and he also fixed us strawberry shortcakes for dessert. It was a scrumptious dinner!
Everyone loves to go to Eric's new house! The adults love it and the kids all love it too. It is such a great place for him.
On Monday, Tyler, Sophie, Tucker, Austin, Hannah, Violet and I all went to the Curiosity Museum at Thanksgiving Point. The kids had so much fun especially in the water area. They have all kinds of water activities and they provide rain boots and ponchos for all the kids so they don't get soaked. There is also a tornado simulator and a high wind simulator. It's pretty cool. They loved the jungle climbing area, the music room, the puppet show area, the vet clinic, and the little theater. Never gets old!
When we were done, we went to Zupas for lunch. It's their favorite restaurant in Utah and they have to go there every time they visit. Good thing I love it too. When we got home, the kids and I went in the hot tub for about 2 hours! We were all shriveled prunes when we got out. We had strawberry chicken salad for dinner and then Eric came over and we played a game. It was a good day!
On Tuesday, Tyler took Sophie snowboarding at Sundance. I was able to get him free tickets from a connection I have through my job as a realtor. Mike Tabla's mortgage company has season tickets and he has offered them to us so I took him up on it. Interestingly, he and Tyler knew each other when they were both insurance agents with Farmer's. It's a small world.
Mike and I took Tucker and Austin to the Dinosaur museum. They had fun digging bones but mostly in the water and sand zone. We built rivers and dams and they loved it! When Tyler and Sophie got home, we drove to Salt Lake to Trolley Square where Joni works and has some art in a gallery there. We met her, Ellie, and Reese and she gave us a tour. She is quite a gifted painter using a lot of texture and glitter.
That night we had chicken quesadillas with guacamole. Later, Jaimee came over and she spent the night. Although she and Tyler are divorced, we still love her so much and are so happy she is comfortable in our home.
They all left on Wednesday morning. Tyler drove back to Colorado and Jaimee and the kids drove to Idaho to visit her mom and some of her siblings. They stopped by to see Eric's house and Jaimee also loved it and said she wanted to live there. There is something magical about his house and Daybreak.
