Estes Park, September 2020

We love Estes Park. It’s where we spent our honeymoon so it seemed like the perfect backup plan to going to London to celebrate our anniversary.

We spent the night at Brynwood by the River. We ate bbq from Smokin Dave’s in chairs along the river. The weather was perfect except for smoke and hazy skies from fires all over the west. There was a nice Fall chill in the air.  We had burgers at Penelope's and fudge from Laura’s on Main Street in Estes. We even visited the Stanley Hotel and shared with them our ghost pics from a previous visit in 2017.

Estes Park, Gateway to the Rockies

Aren’t those amazing pictures? Do they give you the chills?

We went into Rocky Mountain National Park and hiked around Sprague Lake and Bear Lake. We got to see a couple of herds of elk but unfortunately we didn’t hear any bugling.

We love Estes Park and will always treasure any time we are able to spend there.

After hiking in the national park, we headed back to Longmont for our special anniversary dinner at Sakura. We love their volcano rolls and were excited to eat there. Covid made it a little less friendly than we remembered but we still had a nice dinner. We were sure the owner and staff would be as happy to see us as we were to see them but they really didn't even seem to remember us and the owner didn't even come out and give us our usual elbow bump.  Oh well, I guess it's been too long since we were there. We have sweet memories of eating at Sakura and then going to DQ afterwards to get dessert from Eric when he was working there.

Next stop, Colorado Springs!
