Trip to Eric's Mission, Beaufort, SC, May 2014

We arrived in Beaufort at the Ingram's house on Wednesday, May 28th, just in time for Low Country Boil!  They had invited the missionaries over as well and we had a feast.  It was delicious and we appreciated their generosity so much.

Eric and Emalie Ingram were friends at BYU before Eric's mission, so it was really fun when he was assigned to serve in her parents ward in Ridgeland where her dad is the Bishop and then again in the Beaufort ward later in his mission.

Emalie wasn't home while we were there.  She's in Utah getting ready to be married in August.  We spent two nights at the Ingram's home.  I have a lot of pictures of Beaufort because it truly is a beautiful place.  The Ingram's home is right on the water and they have a big long dock that takes you right out to it!

This panoramic view is from their dock looking out towards one of the areas many bridges.

This is the view out of the window in the room we stayed in!  Breathtaking!

This is Elder Allen.  He was Eric's last mission companion in Pearson before he came home.  He trained him and then they served another two transfers together after training.  He is serving in Beaufort so it was fun to get to meet him.

Eric went out with the missionaries Wednesday night to visit some members.

Thursday, May 29, my birthday, we had breakfast with the Ingrams.  We went down to their dock and tried a little fishing.  No luck, but we got some nice pictures.

After fishing, we went to lunch with Sister Lisa Clancy at Plum's in historic old Beaufort.  She was so sweet and surprised me with a birthday present, a cute little cupcake notepad holder.  Love it!!

After lunch, Eric took us on a walking tour of old Beaufort.  It was very hot and humid and afterwards, well really mid-walk, we wish we would have taken the horse-drawn carriage tour.

After we toured Beaufort, we headed out to Hunting Island and the beach to cool off!  It was so beautiful!

The beach is eroding and that is why there are so many dead trees laying on the sand.  It's eery, but so breathtakingly beautiful too!

Eric and I climbed to the top of the lighthouse.  Incredible views from from the top~!

We thought this was kind of funny.  Notice the signs and notice where Mike is standing.

Wishing we would have had bathing suits and towels!  It was a gorgeous day and the water was perfect!

We headed back into town and visited a couple of more families from the ward.

Sydny Johnson with her two kids, McKenna and Ryker.  Her husband, Rey, is a United States Marine.  He's currently deployed and serving overseas.

We were able to drive around a couple of wonderful newer neighborhoods that Eric knew I would love.  They were amazing!  One of them was called New Pointe and it reminded us of a southern version of our own local Prospect neighborhood.

We had another wonderful seafood dinner at the Dockside Restaurant on Lady's Island.  We were joined by Nate and Leah Welch/Hatfield.  Leah is a fairly recent convert and Eric taught her husband, Nate.  He joined the church a couple of months ago so that was very exciting news.

This is a borrowed FB picture from Ashley Ingram.  It is so beautiful and captures Beaufort's sunset perfectly.

We arrived back at the Ingrams after a late visit to the Easthams.

It was a very full, fun and wonderful day.  We were exhausted and had a great night's sleep.  One more day to go before our trip is over and I will save that for another blog!
