Southern Virginia University, October 2010

There is a beautiful little LDS University in Buena Vista, Virginia, that Hannah is quite interested in going to.  They only have around 800 students!  It's in a beautiful place with mountains and lots of trees.  It has a good music program and a very strong institute program as well.  We were already going to Melecia's house which was only about 2 1/2 hours from there, so we took a side trip to check out the school.
The main administration building.  It was originally a hotel and then an all girls college.
The trees were just starting to turn and it was so beautiful.

Most of the classrooms are in this building.

The Library

A pretty shot of one of the buildings just as the moon was coming up.

A pretty picture of the Savior in the main admin building lobby.

One of the ballrooms, also used for devotionals, lectures, etc.

Setting up for a show.

A typical classroom.  Actually on the large side for this university.  Most class sizes are very small.

The entrance to the cafeteria.
Another option for eating.  A cute little cafe type place.
A pretty scene looking down the hill towards the cute little town of Buena Vista.
The Loft--the girl's freshman dorms.
Another view of the dorms.  Each girl has an ample size closet and desk area with bookshelves.  There are four girls to a room and they share one bathroom.  It seemed a little tight, but the girls we talked to loved it! They were so happy to be at this university.  Even though there isn't a large student population, 42 of the U.S. states are represented!  That's pretty impressive.  There were definitely things we liked and loved about the school and some things that we didn't especially like (it's far away!!), but all in all we think it's a good option for Hannah.  She still has a while to decide, but it seems to be at the top of her choice list.
