Moore Fun in Charleston, South Carolina--October 18-20, 2010

Mike and I got up on Monday morning, October 19th and said good-bye to Steve's sweet family.  We rented a car and headed to Charleston, SC.  I had gotten Mike a GPS for his birthday and boy did that come in handy!  We had a great trip and didn't get lost once!  We drove straight to our B & B, 2 Meeting Street Inn.  It is a lovely inn at the tip of Charleston--right across the street from Battery Park. It is where the Ashley and the Cooper Rivers meet and head out to sea.

I love front porches and American flags

Some pretty southern architecture

The Karate Kid

We drove to Folly's Beach and walked on the sand.  It was such a beautiful day and such a wonderful way to start the day out!  We had a lovely breakfast each morning on the porch of our inn and then headed down here for our morning stroll!

We spent some time at the open market.  We love these alphabet pictures taken from local architecture.  Joni takes pictures like these here in Colorado.  They are awesome!

We took a ferry ride out to Ft. Sumter to see the site of the fort where the first shots of the Civil War were fired.  It was such an interesting tour.  We learned a lot about the history of the war.

Another fun thing that we did was to take a guided carriage ride.  It was an amazing tour of historic Charleston.  We learned a lot of history and saw a lot of wonderful buildings, homes, parks, and churches.

Spanish Moss

We didn't actually go on a ghost tour, but we were brave enough to go into this scary cemetery at night!  It was pretty eery and very cool!
Our favorite part of every trip is the food!  Charleston has some great restaurants.  We ate at the Peninsula Grill and had their famous 12 layer coconut cake!  It was featured on Bobby Flay's Throwdown.  We also ate at Magnolia's and it was fantastic.  Their fried green tomatoes are delicious!  We had lunch on this roof-top patio at a place called the Crab Shack.  One thing I wish we would have got more of were the pralines!  A cute little candy shop was making them when we passed by so we had some free samples.  They were so great!  We were stuffed from dinner so we didn't buy any, and I was sorry!  I am still craving them!

Here's the pretty interior of our inn.  The stained glass is from Tiffany's in New York.
A nice shot of the reception area of the inn.  It was a real treat to be able to stay there.  We were spoiled rotten for two days!  Charleston is a beautiful city and we both highly recommend it for a romantic get-away!
