Christmastime is here! December 2020

2020 has been a rough year!  We haven't been able to see our friends and family nearly as much as we would like to.  We haven't been able to travel as much.  Mike's health scared shook us up pretty badly. But, in spite of everything, we are still incredibly blessed!  We are blessed with a beautiful posterity whom we love with all of our hearts.  We are blessed with the knowledge that we have heavenly parents and a savior who love us and care for us infinitely.  We are blessed to live in the United States of America. We are blessed with freedom and free agency.  We have health and the strength to get out of bed each day.  We can laugh, sing, and find joy in every situation. We truly are blessed!

Here is our digital Christmas card for 2020:

...actually there was a lot of crying, but who wants to see that?  Merry Christmas 2020

One of the highlights of the month was a visit from Tyler and his kids, Sophie, Tucker and Austin.  The kids were all tested for covid and were negative and Tyler had it a few weeks ago, so we felt like it was pretty safe for them to come.  They came on Friday, December 18th, and we got to have the kids for several days.  We made a gingerbread house and gingerbread people, (Joni made the dough and delivered it to us, yay!!), we went in the hot tub, watched some Christmas movies, colored Christmas pictures, did two puzzles, played games, and just really enjoyed being together and having company!!

On Sunday night, Eric drove us all around to see some amazing light shows on homes in Lehi and Highland.

Jaimee came on Tuesday and the kids went to Idaho with her to her mom's house.  Tyler stayed here with us but drove up to Rexburg on Christmas Eve and spent the night there so he could be with his kids for Christmas Eve and Christmas morning.  I think that was a really special thing for the kids to have both their parents with them for their first Christmas since the divorce.

Our Christmas Eve was at Hannah and Chase's apartment.  Violet calls it their "new" apartment and our house is Grammy and Papa's Blue House.  We had a lovely dinner with them and Eric. We made some cookies for Santa and Mike read "The Night Before Christmas" to Violet.  We opened our gifts from Hannah which were cute embroidered sweatshirts.  She was very creative and clever with her gifts and we loved them.  I told an abbreviated Christmas story to Violet while showing her the nativity they have on their bookshelf.  It was a very sweet evening.  When it was bedtime for Violet, she walked down the hallway in her new jammies and said very loudly, "Merry Christmas!"

Happy Christmas to all and to all a good night!
