Southport and Oak Island North Carolina, Part 2, January 27- February 3, 2020

We spent a day exploring the town of Southport including eating delicious BBQ at the Smokehouse Restaurant!  What a delightful, quaint little southern seaport town.  Nancy and Dale are going to love living here.  Life seems a little slower, very welcoming and quite pleasant around here.

Ever since eating bbq brisket at Rudy's in San Antonio, I have LOVED brisket!  We had some of the best brisket at this wonderful little place!

...we had delicious sweet mini croissants for dessert!

On to exploring Southport!  The Nicholas Sparks movie, "Safe Haven" was filmed in Southport and we got to see a lot of the spots where some of the scenes were filmed. Southport is magical!

Another day, we explored nearby beach town of Calabash and Holden Beach.  It was kind of chilly on the beach but it was still a beautiful day for seeing new places and having new adventures.

We had a delicious lunch of fried seafood at the Seafood Hut

Nancy and Dale's new community has several golf courses and club houses that serve food.  We had a special surf and turf dinner at The Reserve one evening.  Afterwards, Nancy and I checked out the firepit just outside the restaurant.

One morning I took a long walk through one of the nearby neighborhoods and took a few pictures of some of the great houses.  It really is a special place.

Mike and I took an afternoon and had lunch at the Old Bridge Diner and explored more of Oak Island

We visited the lighthouse, beach and Ft. Caswell

We were here for the Super Bowl so of course we had to make some fun party foods!  We had delicious steak nachos with homemade queso and wings.  It was the San Francisco 49er's versus the Kansas City Chiefs.  The Chiefs won.  It was a pretty exciting game.  We loved the commercials and we did not love the half time show--J-Lo and Shakira.
