August 2012, Trip to Empty Nest, Part 2

After we dropped Eric off and said our goodbyes to him, we spent the night at Tyler and Jaimee's and then took off in the morning for Minden, Nevada to visit Paul and Joni and their little girls, Ellie and Reese.  Reese was born in July, so this would be our first time seeing her.  We hadn't seen Ellie since they lived in Longmont, so we were excited to be with her again. She was our little buddy when they lived so close and we have missed her so much!

Paul took us on a tour of his work at the GE plant in Minden.  It was very impressive and he has a very good job.

Paul and Ellie took Mike and I up to Lake Tahoe to see Emerald Bay.  We could not get over how beautiful it is up there.  It's about 30 minutes away from their house and what a special treat to have something so fantastic so close.

This is Emerald Bay.  You have to hike down a very steep long trail to get there so we didn't do it, but it was so appealing that Mike and I stopped there on our way back from San Francisco and hiked down.  More to come on that later!

We decided it would be fun to take the gondola ride up to the top of the mountain.  The views were spectacular!  We couldn't take it all in!

Back in Lake Tahoe, we found this awesome Lego store and Ellie had a blast playing with all of the Lego's.  I think Paul had quite a bit of fun as well.

One day we drove just a little ways to this adorable little town call Genoa.  It's very quaint with antique stores and a couple of little restaurants and a yummy ice cream parlor.

We had such a nice visit with Paul and his sweet family and were so happy to get to meet our new little granddaughter Reese!
