August 2012, Trip to Empty Nest Begins

This is the night we have been dreading for a very long time...18 1/2 years to be exact!  Hannah's last night living at home!

After saying goodbye to Molly, we got in the car and drove to Logan, Utah to get Hannah checked into her dorm at Utah State University.

Almost to Logan, up Logan Canyon, we saw this horseback riding place off the side of the road, so Hannah and I went for a ride!  It was so much fun and such a beautiful spot.  Mike found a shady spot and took a nap and read a book.

Before checking into her dorm, we had to take care of some very important family business....seeing our brand new grandson, Jaxon Lee Griffith!  It was so nice that they lived in Logan so we could visit with them and so they could be close by to help Hannah with her adjustment to college life.

Such a sweet little face!

Proud papa!  I just love seeing my boys becoming cute dads.

I wish I could say that I made this cute owl hat, but the credit for this one goes to some other crocheter.  It is pretty sweet.

Cute mommies.  Jaimee was due in a couple of weeks!

Firehouse Pizza.  Tyler, Jaimee, Sophie and Eric came up from Salt Lake to see baby Jax.  Eric had spent some time with them and had a brother's weekend with the Griffith brothers in Las Vegas just prior to our coming over to Utah.

Jax looks a lot like my baby Todd did!

Einstein Bros. Bagels, last meal together for a while.

How did the years go by so fast?

In front of Richards Hall.  All unpacked and settled into her new home for the next year.

Hannah with her roommate Abi.

We left Hannah, Todd and his cute little family in Logan and headed south to Salt Lake.  We spent a couple of days with Glen and Kendi and then headed to Provo to get Eric settled into his dorm at BYU.  He didn't know where he was going to live up until a few days before school started.  So glad it all worked out!

Glen put this fun tire swing in the tree in front of their house.  It's always so much fun playing with their darling kids!

Carter played tackle football this year and we got to go to a scrimmage.

Grandpa with Carter and Bess and what looks like a big mud pie.

After trying to get into several apartments, Eric was able to get an apartment in Wyview at BYU.  He had his own room and two other roommates.  It turned out to be a really nice place to live.
Hard to leave both Eric and Hannah, but we know they are both going to have a great adventure ahead!

We met Cindi and Ammon for dinner in Provo after getting Eric unpacked and settled in.  Mike and I spent the night at Tyler and Jaimee's and then headed off on our own little adventure.....
