Thanksgiving Trip 2011 Part 2--DC and Virginia

We arrived in Washington DC on Tuesday, November 22.  Mike and I spent the night in Georgetown at the Georgetown Inn.  We had never been there before and it was such a fun place to visit.  We were right on Wisconsin Avenue which has all the shops and they are all in quaint buildings which of course I loved!  We ate dinner at Serendipity and had their specialty, Frozen Hot Chocolate! It was delicious!

We visited the National Cathedral which neither of us had seen before.  It was magnificent!  They had just finished with the repairs from the earthquake so it had just reopened.  It was interesting to see the pictures of the damage and the repairs they made.  It was a lot more intensive than you would have thought!

The public library.  It reminded us both of the library in Wellsville, NY

Seriously, we had just finished eating when I saw this place!  I would have chosen to eat here had I seen it first!

This canal just seemed so European!  We loved Georgetown!

The Kennedy Center

The ice skating rink in front of the Archives Building where we saw the originals of the Declaration of Independence, The Constitution, and The Bill of Rights
Hannah and Michael had their first date while we were out there.  They rode the Metro into the city and explored the museums.  They even ice skated here!  Michael's facebook status that day was "Best First Date Ever!"

The Michael Jackson Experience--fun game!

Such a sweet, happy girl!

We had a delicious Thanksgiving dinner with Melecia, Rhett, and kids.  Melecia made so many delicious dishes!  We were stuffed!  The Dawson's came later in the evening and we had pie with them.  It was a great day and we were grateful to have been there!

Happy Birthday to Cecily!  She was so excited!

We had a wonderful trip!  Lots of fun, food, and most of all family and friends who made us feel so welcome and loved!!
