Moore birthdays---Mike and Joel 2009!

It was Mike's birthday on Saturday, October 17th! It was a very fun weekend for the birthday boy. The weather was perfect so he and Eric played some tennis. He got to do a little yard work and got plenty of fresh air. Then we went out for everyone's favorite dinner-Sushi!! We had the coveted Volcano Roll and lots of different types of delightful Japanese yummies. Then home for presents. The only thing he asked for was slippers so he was thrilled! It's so easy to please a man who never wants more than socks and slippers!!! Gotta love that about him!
He also got this great new church book--The Joseph Smith Papers--the original manuscripts of the revelations for the Doctrine and Covenants. If he looks tired in this picture, it's because he is! He could barely keep his eyes open for the pictures and went right to sleep about 5 minutes after they were taken.

Joel's birthday was on Friday, the 16th, so he and Erin came up today (Sunday) for a little more celebration! We had a delicious steak dinner and then cake and ice cream. We are so happy that they live in Denver now!

They were both supposed to blow out the candles, but Joel wanted his wish to come true so he blocked Mike's air and got them all! We had such a fun time with them. They make us laugh!

They bring their dog, Kaya, when they come and she and Molly are getting used to each other. Kaya is super patient with Molly, but Molly is pretty protective of her territory. She was actually a lot better this time than the first time they brought Kaya. Hoping for a true friendship to form there!
It was one of those incredible Indian Summer days here today! The wind was blowing and it was in the 80's and the trees looked so beautiful!

It's now Sunday evening and all is quiet again. We are contemplating the week ahead and are grateful to have weekends where we can be with our family and enjoy some relaxation and usually lots of delicious food!
Happy Birthday to Mike and Joel! Hope all your wishes come true this coming year!

A birthday weekend couldn't be as wonderful as this one was without my Susan who did many thoughtful things to make me feel loved. Thank you to our children for phone calls. That really means a lot to me. I especially liked the songs by Meggy and Alyssa. I hope their primary program went well. Thank you for the cards and for remembering.

Love, Dad, Papa

I want to share my birthday so close to someone else's. That's fun! I love how witty Joel is.
I wondered if they brought Kaya with them. That's fun for the dogs.

Happy birthday to all. Glad Mike got his wish of slippers and SLEEP!
It was good to talk to you all!

The slippers picture is funny. Why? Because that was all Paul wanted for Christmas and he got the EXACT same pair. Like father like son!

happy belated birthday uncle mike! looks like you got spoiled with those slippers. (i'm serious though....they look so comfy! i want a pair too!)

by the way, if i'm thinking of the right book, i think a religion teacher i had at byuh (brother baugh) was a main contributor to the joseph smith papers. i remember him telling us he was working on it. looks very interesting!

I'm a little late on commenting, but thank you all for a wonderful birthday afternoon! And for putting up with our fur ball...she loves your yard and being able to hang out. I think the next time, she and Kaya might actually play...especially if Molly has anything to say about it!
Love,
Erin
