For our first summer vacation, we headed south. First stop is Kennesaw, Georgia to visit Steve, Jenny, Alyssa, and Eli for the weekend. We flew separately on Southwest for me and American Airlines for Mike (I used our Visa card miles and Mike used his credit from our covid-cancelled London trip, he got to fly first-class!). It was a long day but we arrived safely and found each other at the baggage claim in Atlanta where we were met by Steve and Jenny.
We spent our first day hiking and exploring three waterfalls about 2 hours north of here. They were all at Lake Rabun, Georgia. The first one was Minnehaha Falls and the second and third ones were Panther and Angel Falls with Angel Falls being above Panther on the same trail. It was unbelievably gorgeous. The contrast between green trees and blue skies here is amazing. I loved every minute of it! We had a picnic before starting our hikes with sandwiches, chips, watermelon, and cookies. A few of my favorite things.
Here are a couple of photos that show Trypophobia in nature! (It is defined as an aversion to the sight of irregular patterns or clusters).
Some carvings left by others:
Saturday, we had breakfast biscuits at Stilesboro Biscuits, made a Costco run, went swimming at their neighbors beautiful pool in the fantastic backyard, had a bbq, went for homemade ice cream at a place called Coconuts and ended the evening with Mike, Eli and I watching The Hunger Games, pt.1. It was good again but we had to watch it with about 100 commercials so kind of took away some of the magic of the movies. It was a fun day!
Some more views of the neighbors lovely property:
Today is Sunday and we attended church where Alyssa is the chorister and Steve is in the bishopric. Came home and I took a long nap, worked on my blog, watched Mike wrestle with Eli and had delicious crepes for dinner, savory and sweet. Tonight we will watch the youth program broadcast and have Steve’s famous chocolate chip cookies.
We enjoyed looking at their family photo albums and I found this darling picture of Steve and Eric from about 25 years ago.
It has been a nice weekend here.❤️
