Capri, Italy--May 17, 2013

The sea was calm enough for the ferry to run from Positano to Capri, so we had a fun adventure seeing this very beautiful island off the coast of Italy.

We decided to do the very touristy Blue Grotto excursion.  We took a small boat out to the cave entrance and then got into one of the tiny row boats that you see here.  We waited our turn and then laid down flat as we entered the small and low entrance to the grotto.  It was so incredible--expensive, but we thought it was worth it. There is an entrance with steps in the back of the cave and the history is that it was Emperor Tiberius' private swimming hole.

Once outside the cave, we went around the entire island.  It was beautiful.  We were glad Dale wore his BYU hat every day, because he was always easy to find!

Beautiful Island is Capri!

When we got back on the ferry and were seconds from leaving port, Mike realized he had left his prescription glasses some place.  There wasn't any time to go back, but miraculously, we were able to have our inn call the place we had lunch (they had given me a business card) and they mailed them to our inn in Tuscany and they were waiting for us when we got there a few days later.  That was definitely a tender mercy.  We found that the people in Italy are for the most part very kind and helpful and most even speak English so it was pretty easy to communicate everywhere we went.
