October 8-14, 2018, A Little Moore Catching Up! Team Tucker update.. Fall stuff!

We have been pretty busy lately and I have some catching up to do.  Happily, Tucker is doing as well as can be expected of a six-year-old with Leukemia!  Today he had a spinal tap and a bone marrow test that will show whether he is in remission and what the next course of treatment will be.  Praying for the best case scenario!  He's a brave little superhero and we are proud of him.  The steroids have caused a lot of weight gain (12 pounds in 3 weeks which is 1/3 his total body weight!) and they cause him to be angry and moody, but all in all he is doing remarkably well and the steroids are ending soon, so hopefully things will start getting better soon.

The support for this sweet family is still incredible!  So many prayers and acts of kindness, both small and large are very much appreciated! The Stake President and Elder Driscol from the Seventy stopped by to see how Tucker was doing in between their stake conference meetings!

Backing up just a bit, I got to watch Sophie play soccer when I was in Colorado Springs.  She is quite an athlete and such a nice girl.

The weekend I returned to Utah was General Conference for our church, October 6-7.  It was wonderful to hear the messages from the First Presidency and the Twelve Apostles plus other church leaders.  They announced changing the format of Sunday meetings from a three hour block to two hours.  They are emphasizing home-centered, church-supported gospel learning.  We will have one hour sacrament meetings and then a 50-minute class-time that will alternate between Sunday School and RS/Priesthood/YW/YM.  Primary will be every week.  It is an exciting time in the church!  Twelve new temples were also announced!

We watched the Sunday afternoon session with Eric, Hannah, Chase, and Violet and then had dinner afterwards.  It was a wonderful conference and it was wonderful to be able to share it with some of our family.

(Chase was there too, just unfortunately didn't get in any of the pictures.)

President Nelson also spoke in depth about referring to our church as "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints instead of using the slang terms of "Mormon" and "LDS."  He said the following:

I love his promise if we try our best to do this!  There is great strength in following the Prophet of God!

We got to attend the Utah High School Allstate Choir Concert in the Tabernacle.  It was amazing and reminded us of when we got to attend the Colorado Allstate Choir Concerts when Eric and Hannah were in them! It was all of these singers below plus they filled the center front of the stage where the bell choir who performed before them were set up!  There were a lot of singers and the sound was magnificent.

I've included a couple of pictures of our recognition bulletin board.  We are so proud of all our missionaries who work hard to pass of their levels of learning!

Here's some really good advice from a pumpkin!

The grounds crew on Temple Square are amazing!  They anticipate the frost and remove the summer plants and put in winter pansies. I believe they have volunteers that come in and help. They have been hanging the Christmas lights all over since August!  It is an amazing place to be!

I love the Fall and I love to decorate for Halloween and Thanksgiving.  This is about the extent of my decorating this year as a missionary.  Oh well, at least it's something and it makes me happy to see it when we walk in after a long day at the library.

When Tucker was first diagnosed, Chase suggested to the brothers that they all shave their heads when Tucker started losing his hair, so they had a Buzz party at Tyler's with Tyler, Ryan, Eric and Tuck shaving their heads and Chase, Justin, Todd, Jaxon and Jaimee's brother and brother-in-law shaving theirs in their own homes.  It was very touching and meant a lot to Tucker to have all that support!

Eric made this cute poster!

Such a brave boy and what a wonderful bunch of uncles (and cousin Jax)!  We all love Tucker so much and think he is the best Superhero of all!
