Kyle, Evie, Oren, and Odessa
Monday, was Columbus day and on Monday holidays half of the mission gets to come to the Temple. It was also the day that new converts are invited to come and do proxy baptisms for their ancestors. If you'd like to know more about this, please go to www.mormon.org. It was our half of the mission's turn to go and it was a wonderful experience to be there with all of the wonderful young missionary Elders and Sisters from our Zone. This is Sister Cruz. She's from Sao Paulo, Brazil and is our adopted Brazilera! We wish we could have gotten a picture with the whole group, because they have become like family to us.
Since it was a holiday and our p-day, we drove about 10 minutes up the rode to Lexington and stopped at this wonderful farm. They have their own grocery store and it's all organic and healthy and delicious looking!
These next couple of pictures are some of their outside tables stacked with tons of fun, fall pumpkins, gourds, apples and flowers!
We soon realized that the place was packed with people, so we decided to come back another time to explore more fully when there are less people. We drove about 10 minutes further to the wonderful historic village of Concord. It was so picturesque and quaint and it's where the Revolutionary War started! The Braithwaite's joined us for lunch at the Main Streets Market & Cafe on Main St. in Concord. The next three pictures were taken by Nancy in the quaint little village of Concord.
A lot of the soldiers who fought for our side were farmers and they left their fields and plows and joined in the great cause of freedom.
The battlefield just beyond the Old North Bridge.
Monument by the Old North Bridge.
The Old Manse. It was owned by Ralph Waldo Emerson's father and later lived in by Nathaniel Hawthorne.
Our mission is going well. We have a couple of months left here and we are getting both excited to go home and sad to leave here. We have grown to love the senior missionaries that we serve with both in our mission and at the temple. We love our association with the young missionaries. We love serving the members of our local church community and we love sharing the gospel with people who are interested and excited to learn. It really is an incredible experience. Anyone who is able should plan to serve a mission! We highly recommend it!
We hope you all have a wonderful week filled with much joy and good times. Serve others! It's where the greatest joy lies!!
